Sherab Dorjee Rinpoche (Phurba Sherpa) is the founder of the Sherpa Buddhist Shedrub Center. The history of his life began about 200 hundred years ago. There was a Tantric Lama Dubthok Tenzing Kawang in Kyirong, Tibet. When he passed away he reincarnated in Ramechhap Dokharpa as Lama Karmiu. When Lama Karmiu passed away he reincarnated in Pulinga, Okhaldunga, Nepal as Lama Kugi. When Lama Kugi passed away he again reincarnated in Kilkhordingma as Sherab Dorjee Rinpoche on the 14th of June 1956.
Sherab Dorjee Rinpoche visualized the history of his life in his dream. When he was only two years old, he told his parents that he was the reincarnation of Lama Kugi of Pulinga, Okhaldhunga. He told the location of Lama Kugi’s monastery. He also told them that he used to own white horse and particular worship bell. He then asked them to bring him his white robe (that of Lama Kugi). Then the family Lama, Lama Duba, checked and authenticated his claim. Before her death when Sherab Dorjee Rinpoche was only 6 years old, his mother gave him to the protection of Lama Duba to raise him to be a Buddhist Scholar.
He started the process of learning to become a monk at the age of 8 in Kilkhording Monastery. He studied the basic elementary Buddhist practices for 10 years. After that he went to India for further study where he joined Drepung Monastery and pursued a Mahayana Masters Degree course for 13 years. Then he returned to Nepal and studied in Drupthok Monastery at Swayambunath where he gained more knowledge. He spent 3 year and 3 months in a cave retreat (which is called losum dhosum) at Kyabje Jatral Rinpoche’s monastery in Yholmo and he acquired the knowledge of Vajrayana Tantric, that was recognized by Guru Tenzing Rangdru Rinpoche, Guru Thuche Rinpoche and Penor Rinpoche and twenty-two others. He has got attended empowerment ceremonies of high and renowned Rinpoches H.H 14th Dalai Lama, Kyabje Penor Rinpoche, Kyabje Jatral Sangye Dorje Rinpoche, Kyabje Thrulshik Rinpoche and Rabjam Rinpoche.
At present, he is living in Baudhanath and overseeing Sherpa Buddhist Shedrub Center. His main purpose is to bring peace to the world. He also treats patients suffering from illnesses. He completed a Reiki course in Swoyambhu where he received the designation as a Karuna Reiki Master – Bodhisatta. Many patients have been cured by Tantric practices especially those who were not cured by medical treatment. He has visited many countries for healing activities. All people who visit him will feel happiness.
